Endermologie Massage

Summer Is Coming Up— Get bathing suit ready with Endermologie Massage

Let’s face it. This past year has been a hard one for most of us. Because of the pandemic, many of us haven’t been as active as we used to be. Or we aren’t engaging in the same kind of sports or workouts that were staving off the cellulite and keeping our skin radiant and toned. Now summer is upon us, life is opening back up again, and it’s time to take some action. But a few trips to the gym and a change in diet aren’t going to be enough to tone down that cellulite. You may need something a little more hard-core, but that is still non-invasive—something like Endermologie massage.

Endermologie massage isn’t a new-fangled treatment fad that’s here one day and gone the next. It’s been used in France for over 40 years to treat the skin of thousands of burn victims. It wasn’t until recently that aesthetic practitioners saw its enormous potential as a body contouring technique. Not only can Endermologie improve the appearance of cellulite, but it can also tone and shape your hips, thighs, waist, abdomen, and other areas of your body.

What Is Endermologie Massage?

Endermologie is a safe, FDA-cleared massage treatment that uses a patented roller system to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The treatment is 100% natural, uses no chemicals, and can treat any part of the body – even the face.

What Does Endermologie Do?

This massage-based beauty treatment is a non-invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite and tones the skin. You can leave the office right after your treatment and go on with your day!

How Does It Work?

Your provider uses a patented roller that sends out pulsations that stimulate dormant cells. Your provider uses the handheld device to knead and roll over your skin gently. Not only do you receive a deep massage, but your skin and the tissues are stimulated by gentle suction. The rollers and suction system reduce the appearance of cellulite by manually stimulating fat cells and mobilizing for deep tissue.

What Are the Benefits of Endermologie Massage?

Endermologie massage has many other benefits aside from cellulite reduction. It also Improves:

  • Lymphatic circulation
  • Tones skin
  • Contributes to a 70% increase in the release of fat cells (lipolysis)
  • Re-densifies skin increasing in elastin (+45.6%) and type 1 collagen (+7.8%)
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Reduces stress
  • Reduces muscle soreness
  • Eliminate waste and toxins that can lead to muscle soreness
  • Reduces the appearance of scars
  • Healthier, younger-looking skin

Getting an Endermologie massage after an intense workout has the potential to help prevent delayed onset muscle soreness.

Does Body Endermologie Hurt?

No. Endermologie massage is a non-invasive treatment that does not hurt. It is entirely non-aggressive, too, so you won’t walk out with visible bruising or have long recovery times. Some people find the rolling and suction to feel strange at first, but they find it relaxing once they get used to it.

How Long Does an Endermoligie Massage Session Take?

A single session takes about half an hour: since you and your treatment therapist will need some time to get to know each other, your first session may take a little longer. For your first cycle of sessions, we recommend that you book at least six to ten sessions for the best results.

How Long Does It Take to See Improvements?

After a few sessions, you’ll see a reduction in the appearance of cellulite, and your skin will look more radiant. After about 12-16 sessions, you will have achieved your desired look. At that point, you may want to book individual sessions to optimize the look and continue to improve on the initial results.

Who Should Try Endermologie?

Endermologie massage is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Here are a few examples of who might benefit from Endermologie massage:

  • Busy moms with little time to go to the gym
  • People who are committed to a healthy weight loss program and want to reduce the appearance of their cellulite.
  • People who have issues with connective tissue pain.
  • Athletes or people who are trying to reach rehabilitation goals

Where Can You Get Endermologie Massages?

Many beauty salons and wellness clinics offer Endermologie massage. Double-check to make sure that your therapist is thoroughly trained and certified in the procedure. That way, you can lay back and relax during your treatment.

What Is a Treatment Like?

A trained therapist will perform your treatment. Before receiving treatment, you will meet with your therapist to discuss your needs and goals. You will also discuss the areas of your body that you want to have treated with the Endermologie massage.

When you show up for your appointment, we will give you a clean bodysuit to change into. The bodysuit protects your modesty and provides a smooth surface for your therapist to glide the device over. The therapist will move the mechanical massage device in controlled, repeatable movements. The device’s suction and two rollers outperform manual massage and benefit the skin and subcutaneous tissue by promoting microcirculation. The treatment will last from 30 to 45 minutes. You don’t need any downtime so that you can walk right back into your regular schedule without hesitation. You may even feel more relaxed afterward.

What Kind of Results Can You Expect?

Vaginal Rejuvenation Review

Vaginal Rejuvenation Review: What You Need to Know

We know that some women aren’t exactly comfortable talking about their vaginas, so we wanted to start this article with this: It is okay to talk about your vagina! It’s okay to love your vagina! And it’s okay to want your vagina to look and feel its best. Still, feeling uncomfortable talking about a subject that has been taboo for way too long? Don’t be.

FACT: According to the National Women’s Health Resource Center, 56 percent of women age 40 to 84 have experienced vaginal dryness after menopause.

There. Now that that’s out of the way let’s get to the nitty-gritty. As you age, your body changes. Not news to you, right? Women’s bodies go through a lot over a lifetime- puberty, child-bearing, menopause. And of course, each of these transitions affects your body. Furthermore, child-bearing and menopause have significant effects on your vagina. If you’re still reading this, we know we’re preaching to the choir when we list:

  • Decreased sexual sensation
  • Lowered sexual function
  • Urinary incontinence

It’s part of a woman’s journey through life. But before you prep for the pity party, we’ve got news for you. Your tired vagina can be rejuvenated with vaginal rejuvenation!

What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

We said it. Vaginal Rejuvenation. This broad term covers several procedures that correct vaginal problems that can occur after you give birth or as you age.

What Causes Age-Related Vaginal Changes?

As you age, your estrogen levels drop, leading to decreased lubrication, thinning of the vaginal walls, and tissue inflammation. Each of these changes contributes to uncomfortable symptoms. Menopause is the most common reason for these changes, but childbirth, breastfeeding, chemotherapy, and certain medical procedures like hysterectomies can also cause them.

What Conditions Can You Treat with Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginal Rejuvenation procedures can treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • The loss of sexual sensation
  • Bladder control issues
  • “Popping” sounds while doing yoga or walking
  • Sexual dissatisfaction
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Increased dryness
  • Accidental bladder leakage
  • Lack of tightness

What are the Benefits of Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Other than the obvious conditions that vaginal rejuvenation procedures treat, there are five other beautiful benefits.

  • Treatment can be tailored to your individual needs
  • Rejuvenation can restore tightness to your vaginal area
  • It can beautify the appearance of the treated area
  • You may experience enhanced sexual gratification
  • Your partner’s sexual experience may be affected in a very positive way

How Does Laster Vaginal Rejuvenation Work?

If you want optimal results, laser treatments are the answer. They allow the practitioner to customize your treatment. Lasers do two things: they resurface your vaginal walls with healthy new tissues and stimulate collagen production, making the tissue strong and healthy.

How Long Does a Laser Treatment Take?

This outpatient procedure takes three to five minutes. It is performed under local anesthesia. During the procedure, you may experience some slight discomfort pressure in the treatment area.

How Many Treatments Does It Require to Relieve Symptoms?

For example, there are some women who experience noticeable relief right away. Other women need additional treatments a few weeks apart to receive the full benefit.

What Does the Recovery Look Like?

You can resume regular activities immediately, but you’ll avoid sex, swimming pools, and bathtubs for 48 hours following the treatment. It’s also normal to experience some minor cramps or spotting.

Does Insurance Cover Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Unfortunately, most insurance plans don’t cover vaginal rejuvenation, but there are a few that do so call your provider and ask.

It’s Truth-Telling Time

Congratulations! Taking care of yourself and your vagina isn’t openly celebrated in our society, so good for you for investigating and getting more informed! Now it’s time to ask yourself a few hard questions:

Are the issues that come with vaginal dryness impacting my life daily?

Am I self-conscious about how my aging vagina looks?

Have I lost interest in sex because it’s painful?

Ave I lost the ability to orgasm or feel pleasant sensations in and around my vagina?

Am I scared to laugh or cough in public because I might pee myself?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, it’s time to take control.

Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatment: How We Can Help

In addition to supporting you in all of your health and wellness needs, we also offer support for your sexual and vaginal health. For instance, we offer two options for vaginal rejuvenation. One is Votiva and the other is the W-shot.

What is Votiva?

Votiva is a cutting-edge laser treatment that requires no surgery. It can treat both internal and external vaginal issues by enhancing muscle tone, blood flow, and sensitivity. It effectively treats common issues such as stress incontinence, dryness, and discomfort during intercourse. This safe, effective treatment for feminine health concerns offers immediate results with continued improvements over time. For instance, by using radiofrequency and heating of tissues, we can provide state-of-the-art rejuvenation of the vagina, inside and out!

What is the W Shot?

The W Shot is an all-natural, painless, non-surgical procedure. It can rejuvenate and revitalize vaginal and clitoral function, dramatically improve sensitivity, significantly enhance your sex life and reclaim bladder control. The W Shot is an in-office procedure that uses a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood.

An almost painless procedure, using a very tiny needle, the PRP is injected back into your clitoris and upper vagina, the area most important for the sexual response and bladder control. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area. You also have the option to use patient-administered nitrous oxide inhaled analgesia to calm yourself down and relieve discomfort.

Are You Ready to Rejuvenate Your Vagina?

Of course, if you have more questions, feel free to give us an embarrassment-free call. We can sure you that our professional staff will be happy to answer any questions that you have about vaginal issues or vaginal rejuvenation procedures.

You can also schedule a consultation any time that you are ready. It’s time to stop hiding and start feeling your best with health on your Horizon!

What Causes Hormone Imbalance in Men

What Causes Hormone Imbalance in Men?

This one is for you guys! You may not believe it at first, but hormonal imbalances are common for men, particularly as they age. Although, in the past, most men have just accepted many hormone imbalance symptoms as something they need to suck up and accept. But you don’t have to settle.

Evidently, there is usually an underlying cause for a hormone imbalance. Working with a doctor who understands this and treats not just the symptoms but the underlying cause is the key to getting back to feeling like your young self again.

Male Hormone Imbalance 101

Did you know that your hormones are the chemical messengers in your body that regulate growth, mood, metabolism, reproduction, movement, stress, respiration, and tissue function? They are also interconnected in a way that if one hormone level gets out of whack, it can affect any number of other hormones and body processes. Unbalanced hormones can affect virtually every aspect of your overall health and functioning.

Did you know that men of any age can suffer from a hormone imbalance? Although most hormonal imbalances in men are a part of the aging process, men of any age can have a hormone imbalance.

Did you know that most symptoms of “aging” are caused by a hormone imbalance? Furthermore, it’s not just testosterone that’s the problem? Out-of-range cortisol and thyroid levels can also cause symptoms and other problems.

Did you know that testosterone levels in men start to decrease by 1% per year starting in your 30’s? Furthermore, male growth hormones steadily decrease after the age of 20, which means that at 40, you will only be left with half of the original growth hormones. Not only that but by age 80, you will only retain only 5%.

Did you know that other factors like activity level, dietary choices, genetics, injuries, medications, and stress can all contribute to hormone imbalances in men?

Despite this, it’s easy to chalk up the symptoms of a hormone imbalance to other factors like general fatigue or overwork. Over time, the symptoms tend to worsen and may eventually seriously disrupt your quality of life. For example, depending on which glands and hormones are affected, symptoms may include:

  • Sleep issues
  • Fatigue
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Anxiousness
  • Brain fog
  • Memory loss
  • Irritability
  • Issues with sexual performance
  • Bad mood or depression
  • Inability to maintain muscle mass
  • Cognitive decline
  • Depression
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Hair loss
  • Weight gain

Hormonal imbalances can happen to any man at any time. Undoubtedly, everyone experiences some type of natural period of hormonal fluctuation at some point in their lives. But if the body doesn’t regulate itself back to normal, there is probably something to blame.

For example, hormonal imbalances can occur if your endocrine glands are malfunctioning. Since the endocrine glands produce, store, and release hormones into the blood. There are 8 endocrine glands located throughout the body:

  • Gonads (testis and ovaries)
  • Pineal gland
  • Pituitary gland
  • Hypothalamus gland
  • Thyroid and parathyroid glands
  • Pancreatic islets
  • Pancreas
  • Adrenal glands

Several medical conditions can impact the endocrine glands, in addition to certain lifestyle habits and environmental factors. The following causes fall into this category:

  • Stress
  • Type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • Poor diet or nutrition
  • Acute injury
  • Anabolic steroid medications
  • Tumors
  • Being overweight
  • Certain cancers
  • Prostate cancer
  • Hypogonadism (low testosterone)
  • Chronic or extreme stress
  • Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • Hyperglycemia (overproduction of glucagon)
  • Hypoglycemia (more insulin produced than there is glucose in the blood)
  • Hormonal replacement or birth control medications
  • Solitary thyroid nodules
  • Pituitary tumors
  • Cushing’s syndrome (high levels of the hormone cortisol)
  • Addison’s disease (low levels of cortisol and aldosterone)
  • Benign tumors and cysts (fluid-filled sacks) that affect the endocrine glands
  • Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (low levels of cortisol)
  • Endocrine gland injury
  • Severe allergic reactions or infections
  • Chemotherapy and radiation therapy
  • Iodine deficiency (goiters)
  • Hereditary pancreatitis
  • Turner syndrome (females with only one functioning X chromosome)
  • Prader-Willi syndrome
  • anorexia
  • Phytoestrogens, naturally-occurring plant estrogens found in soy products
  • Exposure to toxins, pollutants, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, including pesticides and herbicides.

There are so many different causes of hormonal imbalances that the key to determining the root cause of them is to see a healthcare professional.

Nevertheless, male hormone imbalance can be successfully treated. Our treatment of choice is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Because BHRT is a natural solution that uses biologically identical replacement hormones with the same chemical structure as the hormones secreted by the adrenal glands or testes. Unlike synthetic hormones, bioidentical ones are identical to what your body biologically produces. Bioidentical hormones are derived from natural sources and have virtually no side effects when used properly. BHRT is available in pill, cream, gel, and skin patch forms, but we prefer pellets.

BHRT pellet therapy can be customized to your unique needs. It can also be combined with supplements and dietary changes, exercise, and overall lifestyle will support hormone replacement therapy and maximize the benefits.

Despite this, you may be wondering if hormone replacement is safe? The honest answer is that no one really knows. However, we do know there are many benefits to anti-aging and maintenance of our body as we age.

Should you take hormones? Of course, only you can answer that question. Learn all you can and then make a decision. However, it makes sense to use the exact hormones your body made. Hence we encourage the use of hormones biologically identical to what your body made.

HRT vs BHRT: Which Is the Best Option?

Hormonal fluctuations are a normal part of life. Remember when you were a teenager? How life abruptly and suddenly changes, and you couldn’t get a handle on what was going on? The same thing happens as you age.

Typically men’s testosterone levels start to decrease by 1% each year as early as their thirties. And if you are a woman in your 40’s/50’s, watch out! Peri-menopause and menopause may sneak up on you before you realize it’s happened.

What Are Hormonal Imbalances?

Both men and women experience many of the same symptoms in andropause (men) and menopause (women). If your hormones are out of balance, then you’re probably battling hot flashes, fatigue, mood swings, brain fog, or a variety of other symptoms that may make you feel unstable. It can feel like your body and your brain have suddenly betrayed you.

Other conditions like adrenal fatigue and thyroid imbalances can also disrupt your physical and emotional well-being. Regardless of what the cause is, these hormonal shifts can be uncomfortable and alarming. There was a time when the symptoms that came with hormone imbalances were to be ignored or endured. That has changed.

The effects of hormone imbalance can now be treated by hormone replacement therapy. The question you may be asking yourself is- which type of hormone therapy should I choose? Traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).

Both therapies’ goal is the same- to get your hormones back into balance and restore your well-being. But there are some differences between them. Let’s take a look at what they are to understand your options better and take control of your health.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Your body is an amazing thing. It knows exactly what to do and when to do it. It produces its own hormone supply throughout your lifetime, which supports essential physiological and neurological functions.

It’s normal for hormone production to naturally decrease with age. Certain health and lifestyle choices can also disrupt it. Hormone replacement therapy compensates for the decrease in hormones by replenishing the supply of those that are lacking.

Unfortunately, your hormones cannot be replaced with human-derived hormones. This means that the hormones in hormone replacement therapy have to be derived from something else. Traditional HRT uses synthetic and animal-derived hormones that closely mimic human hormones. Your body then uses them in much the same way as your natural hormones.

Hormones in BHRT are derived from plant molecules like yams and soy. We call them bioidentical hormones as they are chemically identical to human hormones. Because they are an exact match to the hormones and hormone receptors in your body, your body reacts to them as it would your own natural hormones.

Which type of hormone therapy you use is your choice. It’s crucial that you understand what it is that you are putting in your body. So let’s take a look at the differences between traditional HRT and BHRT. Here are the facts:

HRT vs BHRT: Symptom Relief

Traditional HRT does not always provide complete symptom relief for all patients.

BHRT has been shown to provide similar or superior symptom relief as HRT.

HRT vs BHRT: Side Effects

Every treatment or medicine has its own set of side effects. Some can be mild, while others can be severe.

HRT: Traditional HRT comes with the unwanted side effects of bloating, nausea, breast tenderness, stomach cramps, and headaches.

BHRT: Research suggests that bioidentical hormones are less likely to cause side effects. For example, side effects associated with synthetic progestins are nearly eliminated through the use of natural progesterone.

HRT vs BHRT: Dosage

The right amount of hormones must be delivered into your body to find and maintain hormonal balance.

HRT: Traditional hormones are typically standardized. They come in a limited range of standardized doses. This may compromise efficacy and tolerability because you may have to choose between a dose that is too low to relieve your symptoms and a higher dose that relieves your symptoms but produces significant side effects.

BHRT: Bioidentical hormones can be customized to the needs of each patient. This means that BHRT provides exactly the amount of hormone you need, which leads to optimized symptom relief without excess side effects or health risks.

HRT vs BHRT: Research and Familiarity

So far, studies on BHRT have been compelling, but the body of research is not as extensive as that which exists on traditional HRT.

Practitioners in the United States are not as familiar with BHRT as traditional HRT, but bioidentical hormones have been successfully used in Europe for decades.

Since commercial BHRT was not introduced to the U.S. until 1998, patients have to look a little harder to find practitioners with the knowledge necessary to create customized, evidence-based BHRT treatment plans.

HRT vs BHRT: Ethical Considerations

If you have ethical objections to animal-derived hormones, then traditional HRT is not for you. Synthetic hormones use conjugated equine estrogen (CEE), like estradiol, extracted from horse urine. Bioidentical hormones would be a better option as they are plant-based.

HRT vs BHRT: Insurance

It’s always a good idea to check with your insurance company about any medicine or treatment first to get a clear understanding of what it does and does not cover.

Most FDA-approved traditional hormones are covered by insurance. The amount of coverage depends on your plan.

Compounded bioidentical hormones are not FDA approved. Therefore, most insurances do not cover these. The insurance company may tell you they are covered when you call, but make sure that they know what your provider is using for the therapy.

Hormonal Changes Are Inevitable, But You Have Options

And with the right hormone replacement therapy, a thoughtful self-care strategy, and the support of a caring practitioner, you can regain your quality of life.

BHRT Pellet Therapy

BHRT Pellet Therapy: Your Questions Answered!

Hormone imbalances cause all kinds of disharmony in your body and life. If you and your doctor have already determined that a hormone imbalance causes your moods swings, trouble concentrating, low libido, weight gain, osteoporosis, or other debilitating symptoms, then now the only question is how are you going to get the right amount of hormones delivered into your body to get back to optimal health? There are so many options out there. In this article, we are going to focus on one: bio-dential hormone replacement pellet therapy. We’ll answer some of the most common questions that we get about pellet therapy— and, of course, if you don’t see your question here, we’ll be glad to answer any questions you have directly.

What Are Bio-Identical Hormones?

Bio-identical hormones are human-made hormones that have the exact chemical structure of hormones naturally produced in the body. Bioidentical Hormones are naturally sourced hormones derived from plants. They have the exact chemical structure of the hormones found in your body, which means that they are an exact match for your hormone receptors. Bioidentical hormones can be delivered in various ways, including injections, creams, pills, and patches. But one of the most effective ways that they can be delivered directly to your bloodstream is via pellets.

Why Choose Pellet Therapy Over Conventional Hormone Therapies?

Medical research has shown that pellets deliver a consistent level of hormone into the bloodstream over a considered period of time. This means that you avoid the fluctuations that happen when you use creams, pills, or patches. Direct delivery into the bloodstream also avoids changes in the liver that can occur with oral hormone therapy and eliminates clotting factors.

What Are Bioidentical Hormone Pellets?

Hormones with the exact molecular structure of those found in the body, typically estradiol or testosterone, are compounded and compressed into granular-sized pellets about the size of a grain of rice.

What Does Your Doctor Do with The Pellet?

When you choose pellet therapy as your form of BHRT delivery, your provider will make a small incision in your skin and place a pellet directly under your skin. Usually, they insert the pellet in your hip or upper buttock. The procedure is quick and relatively painless. It takes about 15 minutes.

What Is the Recovery Time Like?

Recovery from pellet insertion is generally very short. You can expect some tenderness at the treatment site, but lightly icing the area in 20-minute intervals is usually enough to calm any discomfort. Most patients return to normal daily activities within one week of insertion.

Then What Happens?

The pellet delivers healthy levels of hormones into your system based on the fluctuations that are happening in your own body. After the pellet is inserted into the skin, it could take a day or two, or even a week or two, to relieve symptoms. A pellet will last for 3-6 months and then will completely dissolve and be absorbed by your body.

Are Bioidentical Hormone Pellets Safe?

The pellet itself is relatively safe. An individual’s body will rarely reject the pellet. However, some irritation or infection sometimes occurs around the injection site.

Risks are associated with every type of medication, and it is crucial to discuss risk and side effects with your provider before undergoing any treatment. The risks associated with bioidentical hormones are an increased risk of:

  • Water retention
  • Acne
  • Breast Tenderness
  • Increased facial or body hair growth
  • Uterine spotting or bleeding

Who Is a Good Candidate for Bioidentical Hormone Pellets?

Pellet therapy is a good option for men and women alike. If you are from the effects of hormone imbalance, bioidentical hormone pellets bring your hormones back into balance.

What Symptoms Does BHRT Pellet Therapy Treat?

Any symptoms associated with hormone imbalances can be improved with the use of pellet therapy. Particularly peri-menopause, menopause, post-menopause, or androgen (male menopause) symptoms including:

  • Memory loss
  • Mood swings
  • Low libido
  • Sleep issues
  • Hot flashes
  • Pain during sex
  • Night sweats
  • Weight gain
  • Hair loss

Research also suggests that BHRT pellet therapy can reduce your risk for cataracts, diabetes, and tooth loss and improve your skin’s appearance and elasticity.

Is Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy FDA Approved?

No. There are some standardized FDA-approved hormone therapy treatments, but because pellets are compounded, they are not approved.

Does Insurance Cover Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy?

Yes and no. It depends on the company and what pellets your provider uses. In our experience, your insurance company may tell you pellet therapy is covered when you make the first call, but they are not aware of what we use. Many of our patients use a health savings account or Flex account set up and can use this to pay for pellets with pre-tax dollars.

Can Pellet Therapy Help with Weight Loss?

Although BHRT was initially created to treat menopause and andropause imbalances, it can also effectively treat people who have difficulty with their weight because of a hormone imbalance. For example, Men with low testosterone and women with PCOS often experience stubborn weight gain that doesn’t respond to typical diet and exercise strategies but can effectively be treated with BHRT. People treated with BHRT for hypothyroidism, another common contributing factor to weight gain, find it to be of assistance in their weight loss efforts.

But Can’t BHRT Cause Weight Gain Too?

Yes. Sometimes it takes time to find the right dose of hormone medications and reach equilibrium so that you may experience some weight gain as a side effect. However, with proper monitoring and maintenance by a qualified provider, BHRT is more likely to help you reach a stable, healthy weight than to pack on the pounds.

Still, Have Questions?

We are here to help! If you still have questions about pellet therapy, please do not hesitate to call at 505-893-2840 or text us so that we can provide you with the answers you seek.

BHRT What to Expect

Restoring Your Balance: BHRT What to Expect

Are you sick of hormone imbalances wrecking your life? Then it’s time to deeply consider real solutions. Solutions like BHRT. It can be a little scary to think about starting a new therapy so let’s start with the basics of what to expect from BHRT.

But first, let’s answer the question that may be frustrating you the most right now: Why can hormone imbalances be so devastating to one’s overall wellbeing?

Hormones are the chemical messengers of the body. The endocrine glands create them, and then they travel around in your bloodstream, giving instructions to your organs and tissues. They support many of your body’s major processes, including growth, metabolism, reproduction, and mental and physical functions.

If your body has too much or too little of a specific hormone, you have a hormone imbalance. The way the body works, if one hormone gets out of balance, it cascades out to other hormones and causes serious effects throughout your whole body. Some hormone levels fluctuate throughout your lifetime, like puberty or pregnancy, menopause, or andropause, while others occur when your endocrine glands aren’t functioning properly.

The obvious solution to a hormone imbalance is to get the hormones back into balance. But exactly how do you do that?

Hormone Replacement Therapy

If you were making lemonade and it was too tart, what would you do? Add more sugar. That’s exactly how hormone replacement therapy works. If your estrogen levels are too low, then you need to add estrogen. But where does that estrogen come from?

Hormones can now be made in the lab. Testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone are among those most commonly replicated and used in treatment.

Traditional Synthetic HRT hormones come from horse urine/estrogen and are slightly different in structure than bio-identical hormones. To be patented, synthetic hormones require side chains added to a natural substance. These hormones are not found in humans and are not identical in structure or function to the hormones they intend to replace. For hormone therapy to work, the replacement hormones must be the exact chemical structure as the one’s in your body. That’s where Bio-Identical hormones come into play. These plant-derived hormones have the same chemical structure as the hormones made by your body. That’s why Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy(BHRT) is so effective.

What Is BHRT?

When hormone levels drop or become unbalanced, BHRT brings the system back into balance. Most frequently, you hear about it being used to ease symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, and even andropause, but it can also be used to improve symptoms of cancer treatment or to treat conditions such as:

The Benefits of Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement

Both men and women can benefit from BHRT. Women of any age, but definitely those entering or already in menopause, can enjoy relief from the following symptoms when using BHRT:

  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Maintenance of bone density
  • Restoration of sleep patterns
  • Improvement in sex drive
  • Libido
  • Sexual response and performance
  • Fatigue
  • Mental acuity
  • Relief of depression
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Mood swings
  • And many other symptoms

Men can also benefit from the use of BHRT, usually through testosterone treatments. Men’s testosterone levels start to decline in their early 30’s. Most men need to have their testosterone levels tested around 45 years of age.

Symptoms of testosterone deficiency in men include:

  • Fatigue
  • Lack of mental acuity
  • Weakness
  • Loss of libido
  • Difficulty achieving or sustaining an erection

BHRT Delivery Systems

BHRT can be delivered into your body in various ways, which is good news because everyone is different. One person may respond best to one delivery system, while another person may not respond at all to the same system. You may need to try 2 or 3 different delivery systems until you find what works best for you. Delivery options are:

  • Troches
  • Sublingual
  • Gels
  • Capsules
  • Injections
  • Pellets
  • Creams

How They Are Used

Troches and sublingual give about 20% absorption, whereas gels and oil capsules give 10 – 12% absorption. The best way to take troche, oral, sublingual, and topical doses is one-half of the daily dose every 12 hours. However, a testosterone troche or sublingual for libido is best to take 2 hours before bedtime. Progesterone is best to take at bedtime since it may make you sleepy.

Shots are primarily used for men and must be given every three days. Oral, transdermal, and injections do not provide an even release, and symptoms will still come and go depending on when the shot was given and hormone released. Pellet Therapy achieves the sustained levels of hormones that would be produced in a normally functioning body.

Side Effects and Risks of BHRT

The FDA has approved some standardized bioidentical estradiol and progesterone preparations, but it hasn’t yet approved compounded bioidentical hormones because they are blended per dose by compounding pharmacies.

Studies have shown that any type of hormone replacement therapy may increase the risk for certain conditions and diseases, including:

As with all medications, BHRT comes with side effects as your body adjusts to the hormones. Common side effects of BHRT may include:

When You Can Expect to Feel a Difference

Every patient’s journey is unique. Some patients feel relief within days. Most patients start reporting symptom relief within 2-4 weeks, but full relief may take up to 6 months. It can take some time to get the dosage required to optimally balance your hormones, so your provider will meet with you regularly to assess your progress and make any changes needed.

Weight Loss Tailored to Your Needs

Weight Loss Tailored to Your Needs

How many ways have you tried to lose weight using a one-size-fits-all diet plan over the years? And how many times has that approach failed? If you’re like most people, you’ve found that your body doesn’t respond to a diet the same one someone else’s body does.

Finding the right diet plan for your unique body can seem overwhelming with so many different plans out there. Should you go low-carb, no-carb, slow-carb, or vegan? What will actually give you results, and which one can you actually stick to for the long run?

Instead, you need to get a customized weight management plan that works for your body, lifestyle, and goals.

Why Custom Weight Management Plans Work?

Trying to choose from a variety of diet plans is challenging. You don’t know how your body will react or how long you’ll be able to stick to the latest fad. Trying to guess what will work for you isn’t an effective method of losing weight and keeping it off. And with every diet failure, you’ll feel more and more discouraged and less inclined to keep the weight off.

Instead, try opting for a personalized weight loss plan created just for you by a qualified medical professional. Custom weight loss plans take the guesswork and stress out of weight loss. By working with a weight loss expert (like the ones at Health Horizons), you can get guidance on what will really work for your body and give you lasting weight loss results without excessive restriction.

What’s in a Custom Weight Loss Plan

A weight loss plan that really works is more than just a series of instructions on what to eat and what to avoid.  After all, losing weight is about much more than just what you eat. There are other factors to consider, like exercise, health concerns, and learning how to manage stress. You will need to consider all these factors if you want to lose weight for good.

While it can be easy to lose weight fast on a fad diet plan, keeping the weight off for the long-term is much harder. It’s easy to get stressed and fall back into old patterns, and without the support of a team behind you, the weight comes back on quickly.

A Holistic Approach to Weight Management

At Health Horizons, we do weight loss differently. We will help you create the foundation for a completely healthy lifestyle, including a diet based on whole plant-based foods, gentle and enjoyable movement, and strategies for coping with and overcoming stress. We may also recommend additional treatments that can help you achieve your weight loss goals for good. And we provide ongoing one-on-one support, so you always have someone cheering you on and helping you to the finish line.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT): What You Need to Know

As we age, it’s natural for the balance of hormones to shift and change. Menopause is the best-known cause of these changes, as estrogen levels drop. Many hormones change much earlier, however.  But men also go through a similar shift called andropause frequently, which causes testosterone levels to decline. Although they’re natural, these changes can cause mild to severe symptoms that interfere with living your best life.

Fortunately, there are now options available to treat these hormonal imbalances and get your health and life back on track. One of the most advanced options available today is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy or BHRT.

What is BHRT?

BHRT is a hormone therapy option that uses hormones produced from natural ingredients that are chemically identical to the ones your body naturally has. These hormone therapies come in many forms, like pellets, gels, creams, and injections. They are safe and effective since they are identical to your own hormones.

Unlike the synthetic hormones that were widely used in previous decades, bioidentical hormones are created to be identical chemically to those produced by our bodies naturally. Traditional HRT hormones, on the other hand, are made from the urine of pregnant horses and other similar synthetic hormones.

Who Can Benefit From BHRT?

Anyone currently experiencing hormone imbalances can potentially benefit from starting BHRT. It is widely used by women going through menopause if their symptoms are severe enough to interfere with their lives. BHRT can help reduce or eliminate symptoms like; hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, and more, so you can live your life once again.

Hormonal imbalances can also happen in men and women at any age as well. Hormonal imbalances can cause symptoms like:

  • Brain fog
  • Insomnia
  • Low libido
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Muscle loss

If you’re suffering from some or all of the above symptoms, you may benefit from BHRT.

Some chronic diseases, like diabetes or thyroid disorders, can also affect hormone levels and throw your body out of balance. Cancer treatments are another common cause of hormone imbalances.

How Can You Get BHRT?

The first step in getting BHRT is to work with a qualified, experienced medical professional. You will need to undergo a thorough regime of lab tests and bloodwork so your hormone levels can be determined, and you will receive a detailed treatment plan to rebalance the hormones in your body.

BHRT comes in many forms, including pellets, injections, creams, gels, pills, and patches, so you can work with your doctor to find the best option for your body and lifestyle.

Botox® and Juvéderm®

Botox® and Juvéderm®: The 5 Best Treatment Areas for Younger-Looking Skin

Botox® and Juvéderm® are highly effective products to treat the signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. They are safe and widely used in the US and worldwide by people who want to soften the signs of aging.

If you’re looking to restore your youthful appearance and are considering Botox® or Juvéderm® you might wonder where exactly you should begin treatments. Botox® and Juvéderm® are useful in many places on the face and even the body. So, knowing where to start can be tricky.

Here are the five best Botox® or Juvéderm® treatment areas to give you a younger-looking appearance.

Wrinkles and Fine Lines

This is the most common use of Botox®. Wrinkles and fine lines are among the most frequent signs of aging. As we move our faces – wrinkling the brow, squinting the eyes, or raising eyebrows – lines become etched on the face from the contraction of the muscles. Botox® can be injected into those affected areas to stop the muscle contractions and give you a smoother, wrinkle-free appearance.

Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are the lines around your eyes, and they become more visible when we squint, frown, or smile. Aging causes the delicate skin around the eyes to become less elastic, and wrinkles begin to appear. Botox® is a safe and effective method for treating these tricky lines. In fact, it’s the only way to really get rid of them. Botox around the crow’s feet lasts about three to four-month, typically.

Drooping Brow

A heavy or sagging brow can make you look older than you feel as gravity starts to take effect during the aging process. Botox® can give you a subtle, non-surgical lift in the brow area. This will lighten your face and make it look much more youthful.

Neck Bands

The neck and upper chest region are some of the earliest spots to show the aging process. The wrinkles and bands here are often a cause for concern among patients. But you don’t need to live with them. Juvéderm® when combined with other treatments can treat the appearance of aging in the chin, neck, and chest areas by tightening the muscles.

Jaw Reduction

If your jaw has started to become saggy or undefined with age, you’re not alone. Aging and weight gain can cause the skin to lose elasticity in the chin area, and the face loses the youthful V-shape. Surgical procedures can correct this, but they’re invasive and expensive. Juvéderm® can be used instead to target the jawline’s muscles and can be useful with contouring the jawline.

Thinking About Botox® and Juvéderm®?

If you’re thinking about Botox® or Juvéderm® in one or more of these areas, you should seek out a highly-trained and experienced practitioner to get the best and safest results from your treatment. At Health Horizons, we are here to help you formulate a treatment plan to get the youthful, glowing look you deserve.
